Looking for an online curriculum that focuses on entrepreneurship and freedom?
Deven and Ethan both tried the Ron Paul Curriculum and enjoyed it!
There was even a time that Deven almost got in trouble because he was laughing so hard, we thought he was doing something other than schoolwork! When we looked, it was his history class!

Benefits of Homeschooling:
This list is too long to put everything here, but here are some of our favorite reasons:
- Teach your kids how they learn best.
- Have school anywhere (location freedom).
- Work school around other events (time freedom).
- Know exactly what your kids are learning & teach them what you want them to know.
- Learn with your kids and grow yourself while spending time with your kids!

Myths & Fallacies about Homeschooling:
Here are some of the misconceptions about homeschooling and our experience in these areas:
Your children will be anti-social.
-
We made sure that our kids had interactions with people of all ages. What we found is that instead of kids that were only good interacting with other kids or being anti-social, our children learned how to talk to anyone, anywhere. They also learned how to determine what situations meant that they should be professional, which ones they should be focused, and when they could just play.
Your child won't be able to play sports or do other activities that kids in traditional school are involved in.
-
There are many ways for your kids to be involved in activities such as sports while being homeschooled. You can contact your local school to find out what options they have. Also, there are homeschool groups that create their own teams or other activities. You can check with the local groups to see what options they offer also.
We'll have to spend 8 hours a day doing nothing except teaching our kids.
-
You do not need to (nor should you) recreate the traditional school system at home. Effective schooling for you may just be short periods of instructions from you and then practice and study time for your kids with a follow up where you talk to them about the lesson and grade any assignments to verify they learned what they needed to learn. We could run our businesses and teach our kids without missing out on either of them. If you want to keep your job or run your business AND homeschool, you can do that. Also, treasure every moment you can spend with your kids, as they grow up quickly. We wouldn't trade the time with our kids!
We don't have a classroom in our house.
-
Again, you do not need to nor should you try to recreate the traditional school system at home! Learning can occur anywhere. Your "classroom" might be the kitchen table, your backyard, the park, or a museum. You can homeschool while driving in your car, relaxing on the couch, or even on vacation. No chalkboard or traditional desk is needed!
I don't know all these topics to teach them.
-
Parents don't have to know everything to make sure their children are learning the lessons they need. There are online sites, like the Ron Paul Curriculum, that can be all or part of the educational material. Some areas have co-ops where different parents teach the topics they are the best at. We took our kids to different conferences, so they could learn from some of the best in the world on certain topics. You don't have to know everything. You just have to help your kids figure out where and how they can learn what they need. The best part is, you can learn alongside them for the things you also want to learn. Talk about quality time together! That can give you a lot to talk about together!
